National Margarita Day Aye - Aye

IMG_3500.JPG

Hola chicos and chicas, we have some news for you! February 22, 2019 marks National Margarita Day AND it’s on a Friday. Cha-cha-cha! We love a good margarita just as much as the next person, but boy is it a scavenger hunt to find that perfect balance between tequila and lime. Although, when you do find that PERFECT margarita you can’t help but do a little happy dance. When the sweetness compliments the bitterness of the lime, along with just the right amount of salt around the rim it’s almost LIKE A ROUND TRIP TO MEXICO and BACK BABY. Next thing you know you are two margaritas deep wondering if you need a third because you JUST can’t help yourself. However you like your margarita, we have a list of places in and around Atlanta where you can celebrate this beautiful holiday in full force.

DON’T FORGET THE QUESO.

Cheers guys!

our favorite margarita recipe

In our humble, yet educated opinions (through years of Margarita tastings and chase-less tequila shots) the best Margarita has four simple ingredients…Fresh Lime Juice, Simple Syrup or Agave, Triple Sec Liqueur or Grand Marnier, AND Good Tequila of course! Two of our RIDE OR DIE tequilas are Six Degree Tequila and Herradura Tequila. Let us just tell you, these tequilas will COMPLETELY change your Margarita Game. We prefer a Blanco Tequila with a crisp taste and clean-dry finish to give our Margaritas that edge, but both Tequilas come in either Blanco or Reposado. A Reposado will have a more caramel, earthy tone that will enhance the overall flavor of the tequila and give it some SPICE. Whatever your poison is these tequilas will not let you down.

Pro Tip: before you get started, throw your limes in the microwave for no more than 20 seconds! This sounds ridiculous, but trust us, it gets the JUICES FLOWIN’.

Ingredients:

1 serving

  • Ice

  • Cocktail Shaker

  • 3 ounces Tequila, chilled

  • 3 ounces Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice, chilled

  • 1 ounce Simple Syrup or Agave

  • 1/2 ounce of Triple Sec or Grand Marnier

Instructions:

  • Salted rim, ALWAYS. Run a lime over your glass of preference and dip into salt, salt/sugar mixture. Want a more authentic margarita? Add chili powder to your salt mixture for an extra kick.

  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and triple sec. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled (about 30 seconds.)

  • Strain margarita into the glass and BOOM. WE ARE IN MEXICO BABY.
